New Moon Magic on New Year’s

New Moon Magic on New Year’s ~

Dear Friends,
iemanjá
Greetings from Brazil!

As we head into the celebration of the New Year, the presence of Yemanja (the Great Mother Goddess) is palpable.

Tonight the masses will gather at the edge of the ocean, all wearing white in honor of peace and renewal, and pay homage to the Queen of the Sea.

They offer Her white roses and carnations, glasses of champagne, and delicious foods including coconut pudding (all Her favorite things).

As the clock strikes midnight, they send little boats laden with presents into the sea for Yemanja. They wade into the ocean and jump seven waves, each time making a wish for the year to come.

marinafaria_bxThese rituals symbolize the universal truth that we must give in order to receive. We must exhale in order to inhale. In the flow of life, we let go and offer up to the Goddess, and in doing so we create space to take in the new.

This New Year’s is particularly potent because the New Moon falls right on the 1st of the year. The New Moon is the natural time to plant the seeds of our intentions for what we want to cultivate in the time ahead. And so, as we set our New Year’s resolutions in alignment with the New Moon we amplify the potency of our dreams and desires for the cycle to come. Yay!

This year, before you create your intentions and resolutions for 2014, consider making an offering to the Goddess as She speaks to you in your life. Give Her something delicious and beautiful from your heart, and trust that She will receive it. Then tell Her your wishes for the New Year, and trust that you will receive all that and more.
